The Story so far

Legal Audit Inc has been developed on a unique model by Mr. D.P. Singh, an eminent lawyer and his team. LAI is a result of the vast experience of Mr. Singh as a counsel for the Government, corporates and individuals for more than twenty years. The idea was conceived in the year 2000 when Mr. Singh, holding the office of Additional Advocate General, Haryana, wrote a paper for the Government of Haryana, highlighting the need for a mechanism for legal auditing in the State.

It was during Mr. Singh’s government stint, when he realized that the Indian Legal System is hugely burdened with avoidable litigations. He felt that there was a compelling need to put in place a stringent mechanism to save the government man-hours, money, resources, liabilities and futile litigation. A similar need was also felt in the corporate sector which is drawn into avoidable and sometimes forced litigation.

The foundation was laid when Mr. Singh was invited to the Attorney General’s office in California as a visiting counsel. It was here that he was exposed to new and emerging practices in the corporate sector, whereby he concluded that litigation in India is certainly avoidable and can be restricted at the initial stages. He found there was an  need for formal legal auditing mechanism which could pin-point deficiencies in the system, and identify remedial action. Determined that the solution lies in a dedicated team of legal experts who can evaluate and review the operations of the organization as per the surrounding legal environment, Mr. Singh  founded  Legal Audit Inc.  LAI, specializes in "Solution-driven" legal audit, with a focus on legal consultancy and advisory. It seeks to uproot the inefficient, fallacious, and misplaced components in a system or process, review them thoroughly, analyze their deemed positions in the set-up, evolve a working mechanism for their efficient functioning and then put in place a sound compliance program along with a measure of positive and negative incentives. Legal Audit is the possible antidote to the inefficiency and decadence actuated by the presence of diverse but functionally flawed phenomenon vital to the functioning of a system.
